Zurich-Kloten Airport counted a total of 2021 travelers in April 323.500. Compared to the same month last year, in which air traffic largely came to a standstill due to the lockdown, it is a twelve-fold increase.

Compared to April 2019, the most recent performance of Switzerland's largest airport was down by 88,1 percent. Put simply: Zurich continues to operate on the back burner due to the entry and quarantine regulations and the associated weak demand.

The number of local passengers was 2021 in April 262.222. The share of transfer passengers was 17,9 percent. Zurich Airport recorded 6.771 take-offs or landings, which corresponds to an increase in flight movements of 252,5 percent compared to the same month last year. Compared to April 2019, there were 70,9 percent fewer flight movements. The average number of passengers per flight was 81,3, 119,7 percent above the previous year's level. Seat occupancy rose by 25,7 percentage points to 45,8 percent in the month under review.

A total of 30.809 tons of freight were handled at Zurich Airport in April. This corresponds to an increase of 153 percent compared to the same month last year. Compared to April 2019, 17,9 percent less freight was handled.
