The former Cunard flagship Queen Elizabeth 2 has been used as a hotel in Dubai for several years. The French Accor group has now bought this and wants to renovate it and bring it up to date with the latest technology.
It is extremely unlikely that the "QE 2" will ever set sail again. Accor intends to continue using it as a hotel. In the future, the former cruise ship will appear as the "M Gallery Hotel" and have 2.447 beds. Furthermore, one wants to offer new restaurants, a wellness and fitness area including a swimming pool and numerous conference rooms.
The Queen Elizabeth 2 was originally built as a transatlantic liner. Cunard put it into service on May 2, 1969. The official flotation took place on November 27, 2008. After almost ten years of back and forth, the “QE 2” officially opened as a hotel in 2008.
