The German start-up FlyVBird has signed a letter of intent to acquire up to 50 Alice electric aircraft from Eviation. The agreement stipulates that 25 copies should initially be delivered. The company is also securing 25 additional electric aircraft.

FlyVBird wants to better connect rural regions with the help of small electric machines. A sophisticated algorithm will be used. This should enable supply and demand to be better predicted and controlled. The use of smaller airfields should also enable passengers to arrive at the airports with minimal lead time.

The aim is also for regional aviation to make a comeback and at the same time be raised to a new level. The concept appears to be a mixture of on-demand and scheduled aviation, with flight schedules always being adapted to demand. Small electric aircraft will be used as aircraft. The electric plane ordered can carry a maximum of nine passengers.

It is intended that FlyVBird will operate under its own AOC. It will therefore not be a “virtual construction”. “The fact that Alice is a carbon-free, quiet aircraft with low operating costs makes it the perfect solution for FlyVBird to provide clean, on-demand regional transport across Europe in the next decade and beyond. Through our unique AI-driven approach, we will offer direct alternatives to typical hub-and-spoke operations, and Alice will play a critical role in this,” said Anton Lutz, CEO of FlyVBird.
