The next train drivers' strike could be imminent in Germany very soon, as the GDL union has declared the most recent collective bargaining negotiations to have failed. Now Claus Weselsky is already announcing the next strike call.

The fronts between the train drivers' union GDL and Deutsche Bahn AG are seen as hardened and deadlocked. Even before the first round of negotiations, the employee representatives demonstrated their position with a warning strike. As a result, an enormous number of connections failed.

Weselsky is now announcing that there will be further strikes. In the meantime, a so-called strike vote was initiated. The members are asked whether they are prepared to take longer strike measures. The result is still awaited, but then the GDL wants to announce further dates for work stoppages.

Deutsche Bahn AG strongly criticizes the course that the train drivers' union is taking. It is said that after only two meetings the negotiations were unilaterally declared to have failed. As a result, the further timetable for the negotiations would now be no longer valid.

The DB board member responsible for personnel, Martin Seiler, accuses the GDL of wanting to “bash its head against the wall”. There is also criticism that Weselsky himself was only personally present for two hours at the two hearings. The discussions with the other GDL representatives were objective and constructive.
