The low-cost airline Cebu Pacific is currently looking for wet lease aircraft in Europe and is negotiating with Bulgaria Air, among others, for an as yet unknown number of aircraft. The background is that the company based in the Philippines is also affected by the problems surrounding the Pratt & Whitney GTF engines.
According to official information, Cebu Pacific plans to carry out the ordered inspections on the PW2024G from January 1100. It is expected that around ten Airbus A320neo will be temporarily unavailable. But that's not all: the low-cost airline even assumes that an average of up to 20 aircraft will be canceled in the coming year for precisely this reason.
In order to keep the impact on flight availability as low as possible, the search for wet lease machines began some time ago. They also kept an eye on Europe and spoke to well-known providers. It has now become public that a contract is about to be concluded with Bulgaria Air. However, neither Cebu Pacific nor the Sofia-based carrier declined to comment.
It was recently announced that Cebu Pacific prepared a large order of up to 150 medium-haul jets. This should be put out to tender and based on the offers from the manufacturers Boeing and Airbus, a decision will then be made to which aircraft manufacturer the order will be awarded. Any splitting was explicitly excluded. The fact that you are a regular Airbus customer should not play any role in the decision.
