According to a media report, the Lufthansa Group has made a claim for damages in the amount of 740.000 euros through group member Eurowings against the climate stickers that caused chaos in air traffic at several German airports. In an initial reaction, Germany's Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) welcomed the Lufthansa Group's approach.
Climate adhesives have repeatedly plagued German airports. In doing so, they gained unlawful access to the security area and, depending on the action, disrupted air traffic or even smeared aircraft with paint or even stuck themselves to them. For safety reasons, flight operations had to be interrupted. As a result, numerous flights were delayed and the airlines incurred additional costs, for example for alternative landings on incoming flights.
Group member Eurowings is initially claiming 740.000 euros for the Lufthansa Group, reports “Bild am Sonntag”. The suspected perpetrators will first be sent payment requests. Once the deadline has expired, the matter will be taken to court. For the individual, this could be a very expensive matter simply because of high legal and court costs.
In an initial reaction, Germany's Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FPD) welcomed the Lufthansa Group's approach. He also calls for the aviation security law to be tightened and stated that he will work to achieve this in cooperation with his party colleague Marco Buschmann (Minister of Justice).
