The closure of the helipad at the Innsbruck hospital must be extended by at least one month. The background is that something went wrong during the renovation work because a material defect was discovered in the substructure area.

The heliport was actually supposed to be put back into operation on September 15, 2023. Nothing will come of this - at least for the time being - because during acceptance it was discovered that the substructure had defects. According to the hospital's media statement, it is said to be a material defect that needs to be corrected.

The consequence of this: The temporary arrangement with landings on the Olympic site and subsequent road transport of the patients must be continued for at least another month. The clinic's heliport is getting old and therefore urgently needed to be renovated. However, those responsible probably did not expect that there would be delays due to defective building materials.

According to a statement from the hospital, the next steps will now be evaluated with the construction company carrying out the work. It is currently assumed that the restart will be delayed by at least four weeks. Until then, continue to use it Replacement landing pad set up at Olympiaworld.
