The low-cost airline Ryanair has started the first domestic flights within Morocco at the start of the current 2024 summer flight schedule period. It is currently the only foreign aviation company authorized to operate purely domestic flights in this African country.

A few months ago, the group of companies headed by Michael O'Leary caused a big surprise because you start your domestic business in Morocco. To do this, you first had to apply for the necessary approval, as you do not have a local AOC. Such flights are actually reserved for providers with certificates from the Civil Aviation Authority of Morocco, but an exemption was granted upon request.

Ryanair is currently the only foreign carrier that is allowed to offer commercial domestic flights within the North African country with official regulatory approval. The first routes were added at the beginning of the 2024 summer flight schedule period. Additional routes within Morocco will gradually be launched. The government expects Ryanair's entry into the market on domestic routes to improve the country's connectivity, but also to benefit tourism, which generates important revenue.

Ryanair has initially been approved for eleven domestic routes within Morocco. These are to be ramped up gradually over the course of the 2024 summer flight schedule. The first flights of this type were carried out on March 31, 2024. The first domestic flight was operated under flight number FR6741 with the Boeing 737-800, which has the registration EI-DHG, from Marrakesh to Oudja.
