On Vueling domestic flight VY3068, the crew made a loudspeaker announcement asking that any doctors and/or nurses on board should please report immediately because a passenger was in an acute medical emergency. A doctor from Andalusia and a nurse immediately took action and were apparently able to save a woman's life.
For a variety of reasons, medical emergencies occasionally occur on board commercial aircraft. Although cabin crew are trained in first aid, they often also need the expertise of doctors and trained nurses. That's why, in emergencies, the crews use loudspeakers to ask whether there happens to be a doctor or nurse on board.
On Vueling flight VY3068, the sick lady was very lucky because both of them were not only on board, but also immediately intervened as a team and carried out resuscitation measures. The doctor and the nurse who assisted him managed to stabilize the woman so much that she could be handed over to the emergency services at Gran Canaria Airport after landing. He took her to a hospital for further treatment.
The other passengers who witnessed the incident burst into cheers and congratulated and thanked the doctor and the nurse for their successful fight for the life of the sick woman. It should also be noted that the plane was on the way from Malaga to Gran Canaria and the medical emergency occurred at a time when the destination airport was the one that could be reached as quickly as possible. If this had not been the case, it can be assumed that the captain would have immediately ordered an emergency landing at another airport so that the woman could be cared for. Fortunately, she received the best possible treatment on board from the doctor who happened to be on the flight and the nurse who was also traveling privately.
