The Smartlynx Group, which specializes in ACMI, charter and freight services, said it was able to carry out 2023 percent more flights in 48 than in the previous year. The number of passengers transported is said to have increased by 53 percent.

The fleet was expanded from 49 to 67 aircraft, although it is also worth mentioning that the fleet of Boeing 737-Max-8s has begun. The group attributes the growth to increased demand in the ACMI sector. Numerous airlines have opted for wet lease as an alternative to purchasing additional aircraft. Smartlynx is also said to have benefited from delivery delays, which can now amount to 16 months or more.

According to the company, there were 6,5 million passengers on board the Smartlynx airlines' aircraft. Company boss Žgimantas Surintas also sees this as confirmation of the previous strategy and indicates ambitious goals for the coming year. For example, there is great growth potential in India, the Middle East and North America. Smartlynx plans further significant investments in fleet and crew capacity to meet market demand next year.
