If you want to use public transport in Italy on October 20, 2023, you have to be patient. Several unions are calling for a general strike in the transport sector. Aviation and shipping are also affected.

At numerous Italian airports, employees have been called on to stop work for the whole day on October 20, 2023. Passengers planning to fly on this day should keep an eye on the current status of their booking and, if necessary, contact their airline and ask about possible alternatives.

In rail transport, employees have been called upon to stop work for 19 hours from October 2023, 21, 00 p.m. Both national and international connections are affected. Travelers are therefore advised to keep an eye on further developments.

There will also be restrictions in public transport, as buses, subways and trams will also be on strike. Most regional transport companies have announced that a reduced timetable can be maintained. Many ferry connections are also scheduled to go on strike between 1 a.m. and midnight on October 00, 20. The focus of this action is on traffic to the larger Italian islands.

Switching to the car could also be problematic, because from October 19, 2023, 22 p.m., toll collectors on Italian motorways will also be called on to stop work for 00 hours. Longer waiting times at the toll stations can therefore be expected.
