Just a few weeks ago, Austrian Airlines emphasized that the end of March 2021 would end the operation of the DHC Dash 8-400 turboprop. Now the decision has been made that two machines will probably remain in use until the end of May 2021, a spokesman told Aviation Direct.
“Austrian Airlines will shut down the majority of the remaining Dash fleet as planned at the end of March. In the short term, however, there is the opportunity to continue to fly two planes for a short period of time. We will therefore use these aircraft in the short-haul network in April and May. We are ruling out any further extension beyond May, ”said the media officer.
The DHC Dash 8-400 with the registrations OE-LGI and OE-LGJ are affected. Austrian Airlines will decommission the other six turboprop aircraft by the end of March 2021 at the latest. The Dash is currently the backbone of the short-haul fleet as demand is low due to the corona pandemic.
