Due to bad weather, there were numerous diversions at London Heathrow Airport earlier this week. Also affected were two Airbus A380s from Emirates Airline, which even had to declare an emergency.

These were courses EK1 and EK29, both of which started in Dubai. Both machines could not land at the UK's largest airport due to bad weather. The code 7770, which stands for a general emergency on board, was broadcast via the transponder. The former flight was diverted to Gatwick Airport. EK29 then landed in Birmingham.

. A Swiss International Air Lines Airbus A220 was diverted to London Stansted Airport (STN), a Lufthansa Airbus A320neo also chose STN as its diversion airport, while an American Airlines Boeing 777-300ER chose to divert to Manchester Airport (MAN) and also broadcast 7700. Other diversions include an Air India Boeing 787-8 that was diverted to LGW and a British Airways Airbus A320neo that flew to STN instead of LHR.

There have also been numerous flight cancellations from the UK for a very different reason. Many Germany connections are due to one from the Verdi union strike organized at a total of four German airports failed. This also had an impact on flights between the UK and Germany.
