Berlin-Brandenburg Airport was used by 2022 million passengers in 19,85. In a direct comparison with 2021, there was a significant increase, because back then there were 9,95 million travelers. However, the BER is well below the value that Tegel and Schönefeld were able to achieve in 2019.

In December 2022, Berlin-Brandenburg Airport had 1,53 million travelers and thus fewer than in November 2022. The number of flight movements is reported as 12.180 take-offs and landings. This was below the volume of December 2021, when there were 12.201 movements. In the whole of 2022, 164.293 aircraft took off and landed at BER compared to 105.740 flight movements in 2021. The utilization of the aircraft increased to almost 80 percent in the past year.

Air cargo volume decreased to 2022 tons in December 2.974 from 3.134 tons in the previous year. For the year as a whole, throughput increased from 27.437 tons in 2021 to 31.827 tons.

“The doubling of travelers compared to the previous year shows that BER is well received. In the past year, people from the region were happy about more opportunities to fly on vacation. At the same time, tourism in the capital region has picked up speed again. Together with our partners at BER, we were prepared for the rapid increase in passenger numbers and responded to this by opening Terminal 2 and offering more digital and automated services. The positive feedback from our guests encourages us to continue on this path in 2023," says BER boss Aletta von Massenbach.
