The Canadian aviation authority Transport Canada initiated the certification process for the Boeing 737 Max. It is the first agency outside of the United States to initiate proceedings. At EASA, there are no plans for this yet, a spokeswoman said Reuters.
The re-approval could possibly be granted in 2021. Transport Canada stated that the Canadian tests are completely independent of the FAA approval process. In particular, the changes proposed by Boeing are validated. They also want to check the results of the FAA. However, TC did not mention a specific schedule.
