Lufthansa could soon get more money from the German state, because the group is planning a three billion euro capital increase. According to various media reports, the government should participate in order to prevent the 20 percent stake from being watered down.

In the previous year, the Lufthansa Group organized government aid worth billions from the governments of Germany, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland. The Federal Republic of Germany demanded shares and a silent participation of 5,5 billion euros. This is exactly what the crane wants to repay at least partially with the help of the capital increase.

If the government actually goes along with it, this leads to the absurd fact that at least some of the tax money is repaid with tax money. If Berlin were not to participate in the capital increase, the stake would be diluted. However, a final decision has not yet been made.
