For just one British pound, the management of Cotswolds Airport was able to buy a Boeing 747 that British Airways had shut down in the wake of the corona crisis. The privately run airport invested around 500.000 pounds in the machine and transformed it into a unique event center.
It is a special B747, as the aircraft only received the Negus livery a few years ago. The G-CIVB was to be parked at Cotswolds Airport in 2020 and was initially to be "interimly stored". However, since the phasing out of this type of aircraft was already certain independently of Corona, the airport contacted British Airways and was able to get hold of the jumbo for just one pound.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the small airport is said to have had the conversion into an events center cost a proud 500.000 pounds. They want to market this Boeing 747 as a special location, for example for weddings. To do this, a lot of event technology was built in. The management of the Cotswolds Airport is now very proud that the unique project could be opened. The machine should also be able to be inspected on request.
