The airline Great Dane Airlines had to file for bankruptcy on Monday. Flight operations were discontinued without warning, so that among other things, passengers of a tour operator in Billund were temporarily stranded.
The carrier was already in deficit before the corona pandemic. In 2019, for example, a deficit of 25,3 million Danish kroner was flown in. In the previous year the minus was 50,6 million Danish kroner. Now the majority owner was apparently no longer ready to bear the ongoing losses.
Great Dane Airlines has ceased operations with immediate effect. The three Embraer 195 leased from SEBC Aviation are parked. There are two machines at Billund Airport and one in Copenhagen. The carrier is currently not expected to take to the air again.
