The Lufthansa Group is reacting to the German lifting of the travel warning for the Balearic Islands with a significant increase in the offer during the Easter period. In some cases one even wants to increase the frequencies threefold.
According to its own information, the crane was able to sell 80 percent more tickets to Mallorca in the past two weeks. The Canary Islands rose by 20 percent and Mexico was around 50 percent more in demand. Lufthansa assumes that this trend will intensify due to the lifting of the travel warning for the Balearic Islands. Therefore, you are now topping up for Easter.
From the turn of the month between March and April, Lufthansa will be offering around 1.200 European connections. That is around 200 percent more connections from Munich and around 50 percent more from Frankfurt compared to the current week. The group locates the greatest demand for destinations in Spain: This is why the airline is flying to almost every Canary Island for the first time. The capacities from Munich to Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura will be doubled at Easter, from Frankfurt the capacities to Gran Canaria and Tenerife will increase by 50 percent.
Palma will be greatly increased
Mallorca is currently particularly popular with holidaymakers. Lufthansa is reacting to this and is significantly expanding the number of flights there: Instead of two weekly flights from Munich, up to eleven weekly connections are now being offered. Instead of six weekly flights from Frankfurt, there are now up to 20 weekly connections during the Easter travel season. Cancun in Mexico and San José in Costa Rica from Frankfurt are particularly popular for overseas flights. Cancun can now be reached daily, and San José five times a week.
In addition, Eurowings is currently gradually expanding its frequencies to Mallorca: The airline is planning up to 325 weekly flight connections from 24 airports in Germany and Great Britain to Palma de Mallorca. In addition, the cities of Valencia and Málaga in Spain are very busy over Easter.
