The British low-cost airline Easyjet has so far stayed away from London Heathrow Airport. For many years they relied on Luton and Stansted and later on Gatwick and Southend. The pandemic led to a rethink, because in Stansted, for example, there was massive reduction.
CEO Johan Lundgren has now confirmed that the carrier he is managing is now also checking flights from Heathrow. However, it is not yet fixed, but the manager does not want to rule out the launch from the largest airport in the United Kingdom. Due to tough travel restrictions, Easyjet serves almost exclusively Gatwick and Luton in this region.
Lundgren told The Mail on Sunday newspaper that Heathrow could play a crucial role in the future. With regard to the destinations that he sees in focus from the UK onwards, he named Greece, France and Turkey, among others. He hopes that these three states will be on the government's green list, which he criticized just a few days ago,
There will be no short-term start from Heathrow, however, because mine has not applied for any take-off or land rights for the current summer season. It is possible that these could become available at short notice. In any case, Lundgren made it clear that you have the application for the future in the back of your mind and, with a high degree of probability, will do so.
