As of October 15, 2023, the Zeitfracht subsidiary German Airways, which emerged from WDL, will have a new fleet chief, Luc van den Avyle. The newcomer previously worked for the manufacturer Embraer, among others.

When it comes to jets, German Airways currently only operates Embraer 190 aircraft. In a press release it is written, among other things, that Luc van den Avyle can bring his 20 years of experience from the Brazilian group to German Airways. He was most recently Director of Business Development at the component manufacturer Electric Power Systems and was therefore the responsible sales manager for the EMEA and Asia regions.

“We are very pleased to welcome Luc to our team. As a small company in particular, we are very proud to have attracted such an experienced manager to our airline. For us as a medium-sized aviation company, technical controlling plays a very important role in our economic success, and Luc will be able to provide us with excellent support here,” says Maren Wolters, Managing Director of German Airways.

At Embraer, the manager was Key Account Manager Commercial Aviation until the spring of last year and supported the manufacturer's customers in civil aviation. Before that, he was the manager responsible for defense and public sector clients at Embraer for a long time. During his time as a helicopter pilot, the Belgian worked for the Belgian Air Force, American Helicopters and the Bristow Academy. He also worked as an aircraft engineer for Delta Air Transport.

At German Airways, the 59-year-old will be responsible, among other things, for the areas of management and contract controlling of technical suppliers, fleet development and lessor management, the strategic development of the airline's own technical operations and technical asset management.
