The airlines Emirates and TAP Air Portugal will cooperate in the future as part of a strategic partnership. A corresponding Memorandum of Understanding has already been signed by the two airlines.
The agreement provides that customers of both airlines will benefit from seamless connectivity on many routes to North and South America, North Africa and East Asia. Emirates and TAP Air Portugal are also currently exploring ways to improve collaboration on their respective frequent flyer programs, including mutual earning and redemption opportunities and benefits such as access to their respective lounges.
In addition, both airlines plan to support each other on their stopover programs in Dubai and Lisbon, with Emirates assisting TAP Air Portugal in examining potential expansion opportunities in the United Arab Emirates.
Subject to the necessary regulatory approvals, the expanded agreement is expected to come into force on May 1, 2021 and offer customers seamless booking, ticketing and travel benefits for 70 destinations in both airlines' route networks.
