England is saying goodbye to the mandatory hotel quarantine for travelers from certain areas. As of today, all eleven remaining countries, including South Africa and other African countries, have been removed from the so-called red list.

Since the new CoV variant is already spreading quickly in the country, the measure is no longer suitable to significantly prevent the spread. So far, only British citizens and people with a right of residence in Great Britain have been allowed to enter the UK from countries on the red list. After crossing the border, they had to self-isolate for ten days in a hotel rented by the government - at their own expense, mind you. This was undoubtedly an enormous burden for those affected.

However, the British government has so far adhered to the obligation for travelers from all countries to test themselves before and after entering the country, as rnd.de reports. After entering the country, a PCR test is required, which must be booked with a certified provider at your own expense. If you are required to submit a negative test result before starting your trip, an antigen test is sufficient.
