The wet lease cooperation between Finnair and Eurowings Discover is initially limited to the current 2022 summer timetable period. However, one hopes in Helsinki that one can also fly for the Lufthansa subsidiary in winter 2022/23.
"Initially, the agreement runs until the end of October, but we hope to also lease aircraft to Eurowings Discover in the winter," Finnair boss Topi Manner told Aero.de. The manager also pointed out that some of the crews speak German and that the feedback from Eurowings Discover should be positive.
Two Airbus A350s are used from Frankfurt am Main for the crane offshoot. Another flies from Munich for Eurowings Discover. The long-haul aircraft operated by Finnair mainly fly on US routes. Furthermore, the Airbus A321 is on the road on behalf of Oneworld partner British Airways in its European network. According to its own statements, Finnair currently generates around ten percent of its revenue from the provision of ACMI services.
