The corona pandemic and the associated tough requirements by the government of the Fiji Islands forced Fiji Airways to pause the international route network for an extremely long time. On December 1st the time had come: the carrier resumed international flight operations.
The official comeback flight was carried out as FJ914 with the Airbus A330-200 with the registration DQ-FJU. The long-haul jet flew from Sydney to Nadi in just over 3,5 hours.
“After almost two years without tourism, we can't wait to welcome international travelers back on December 1st and greet them with our famous Fijian hospitality. We have been working hard since March last year to prepare for this moment and provide our guests with the safest and most enjoyable travel experience, ”said Andre Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways.
