If you finally want to bathe in the sun again or explore the underwater world, you don't have to travel far, because the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea are in no way inferior to those of the Caribbean. Turquoise blue water, finest sand, mild temperatures and exotic flair: Five exciting beaches that could be of interest when planning your holiday are presented below.

Plage de Pampelonne, French Riviera, France

The azure coast of France has long enchanted travelers. No wonder that many people seeking peace and quiet and celebrities settle on the French Riviera. Near Saint-Tropez, the Plage de Pampelonne awaits sun-seeking guests. With a length of 4,5 kilometers and its picturesque surroundings, the popular beach invites you to stroll and linger. Holidaymakers are also spoiled with culinary delights here. Exclusive restaurants entice with freshly caught fish and delicious wine. Anyone who secures a spot early in the morning on one of the five sections of the Pampelonne will have the idyllic sandy beach almost to themselves.

Playa es Trenc, Mallorca, Spain

About 45 minutes by car from Palma de Mallorca is Playa es Trenc, a beach straight out of a picture book. Crystal clear water, gentle waves and soft, glittering sand make it a true experience for bathing and snorkeling fans. The scenic location within a nature reserve is particularly attractive. Hikers can take the sandy path just before Colònia de Sant Jordi and walk towards the beach along fascinating salt pans and coves. With Spanish wine and delicious tapas, you can end the day relaxing in one of the surrounding restaurants.

Cala Brandinchi, Sardinia, Italy

We continue to Sardinia, where Cala Brandinchi promises a touch of the exotic with its fine, light sand and the green-blue sea. The shallow entrance is ideal for children, which is why the 700-metre-long Cala Brandinchi is a popular bathing beach for families. In addition to numerous offers, such as boat rental or beach volleyball, there are also animal attractions in the nature reserve. With a bit of luck, flamingos, herons and the rare Cavaliere d'Italia, a stilt-walker not entirely dissimilar to the stork, can be observed. In the far distance the imposing mountains of Sardinia rise towards the sky. Just beautiful!

Zlatni Rat, Dalmatia, Croatia

Zlatni Rat - also called "Golden Horn of Bol" - is located on the island of Brač and protrudes in the shape of a narrow triangle about 500 meters into the Mediterranean Sea. The picturesque pebble beach offers perfect bathing fun for young and old: The shallow water is ideal for children, the lush trees inside provide pleasant shade and with numerous leisure activities such as kite surfing and hang gliding, adventure seekers also get their money's worth. Those who walk the approximately 1.000 meter long peak can then strengthen themselves with delicacies on the western part of the beach.

Plage de Santa Giulia, Corsica, France

Crystal clear water, white sand, magical rocks: The Plage de Santa Giulia exudes truly Caribbean flair. Located south of the port city of Porto Vecchio, the 2,3 kilometer long dream beach is easy to reach. The sea is particularly calm in this Corsican bay, making Plage de Santa Giulia a perfect seaside resort for young families. If you rent a boat for the day, you can swim undisturbed and enjoy a romantic picnic for two. Meanwhile, gourmets feast on grilled crab and Corsican cheese with fig jam in the nearby restaurants.
