The Swiss travel group Hotelplan Group, with all of its subsidiaries and their travel brands, wants to do even more to promote sustainable tourism. The Hotelplan Group has therefore decided to sign the so-called “Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism”. This calls for a halving of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and net zero by 2050 at the latest. The measures to achieve these goals are to be further developed in the next few months. In addition, the Hotelplan Group has committed itself to being a climate-neutral company from 2022 by offsetting direct greenhouse gas emissions that have not yet been reduced.
“Travel depends on intact nature and a stable socio-economic system. We see it as our duty to manifest our commitment to sustainable travel by signing the Glasgow Declaration. We want to improve the quality of life of our customers by creating extraordinary travel experiences and placing a stronger focus on sustainability. We are convinced that together as an industry we are able to responsibly fulfill travel dreams ”, says Laura Meyer, CEO Hotelplan Group.
The “Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism” is officially launched today at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26). The goal of the Glasgow Declaration is to increase the climate ambitions of tourism actors and take strong action to support the global commitment to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and to net zero as soon as possible before 2050.
