Oneworld member Royal Jordanian took delivery of the first two Embraer 195-E2 regional jets last week. These are leasing aircraft that were purchased from Azorra Aviation.

Royal Jordanian has initially ordered eight units of this type. The first two of these were handed over to the Jordanian carrier by lessor Azorra Aviation on January 25, 2024. These carry the registrations JY-REA and JY-REB.

“The E2 family will support our strategic goals by complementing our larger narrowbody aircraft by matching capacity to demand, reducing operating costs and carbon emissions, while significantly improving passenger comfort,” said Royal-Jordanian -Chief Samer Majali.

Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation: “Royal Jordanian’s choice of the E2 to modernize its fleet is a testament to the aircraft’s advanced capabilities, our successful history and our strong relationships with both Azorra and RJ . The latest generation E2 family of E-Jets is the quietest, greenest and most fuel efficient aircraft on the market for aircraft smaller than 150 seats. RJ can simultaneously achieve its growth, profitability and sustainability goals with the small E2 fleet complementing RJ's larger narrowbody aircraft. We are proud to continue our long-standing collaboration with Royal Jordanian and Azorra.”

The two E195-E2s also feature another innovation, as they are the first aircraft to carry Royal Jordanian's renewed livery. The entire fleet will gradually appear in this design. New deliveries are already being made in the new color scheme.
