The Lufhansa/MSC consortium is slowly getting nervous that the privatization of the airline Ita Airways could not be successful. Kranich CEO Carsten Spohr even believes that the government will delay the sales process. Therefore, a letter was sent to Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
Speaking to the Italian newspaper “Corrie della Serra”, the Lufthansa CEO explained, among other things: “We are not satisfied because we have noticed that the privatization seems to be delayed. Last week, together with our partner Gianluigi Aponte, the owner of MSC, I wrote a letter to Prime Minister Mario Draghi”. Draghi has not yet received an answer.
Spohr further believes that "Ita Airways needs a partner quickly and we have shown that we are the right people for Italy and for Ita". Also in the race for the Italian carrier are financial investors Certares with Air France-KLM and the US airline Delta.
