Lufthansa and VC are mutually terminating contracts

The fronts between the pilots union Vereinigung Cockpit and Lufthansa have intensified again. Initially, the so-called perspective agreement was unilaterally terminated by the Kranich management. Now the VC feels “compelled” to terminate the collective wage agreement on June 30, 2022.

From internal circulars of the Lufthansa Group it emerges that the originally set fleet targets can no longer be met. The Vereinigung Cockpit naturally sees it differently and speaks of an unnecessary escalation of ongoing negotiations. The perspective agreement would have been a "great peace agreement" and affects the pilots from Lufthansa, Germanwings, Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Aviation Training and, in some cases, Condor as well.

“With the termination of the PPV, the Lufthansa Group obviously wants to put pressure on the group of employees that has so far made the greatest contribution to the crisis for the LH Group. We strongly condemn that, ”says VC President Stefan Herth. “The pilots, with great loyalty to the company, have agreed to take a look and make major cuts. This was temporarily unavoidable as a responsible contribution to the economic stabilization of Lufthansa. The VC clearly rejects the desire to maintain these lowered conditions beyond the crisis. "

Now the pilots union is countering and wants to terminate the collective wage agreement effective June 30, 2022. Both sides emphasize, however, that they want to maintain the negotiation path. It is clear, however, that Lufthansa wants new, possibly cheaper contracts. On the part of employees, it is repeatedly accused that the use of cheaper AOCs and flagging abroad should be promoted within the group.
