Lufthansa Cargo will receive another brand new Boeing 777F. The cargo plane is due to be delivered later this year. The cargo crane will then operate a total of eleven machines of this type.

Before that, there was a thick air between the pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit and the management of Lufthansa Cargo. The employee representatives accused that an increasing shift to sister company Aerologic, which is not subject to the group collective agreement, is taking place. The decision now to expand the 777F at Lufthansa Cargo by one unit can also be seen as a kind of peace offer to the pilots.

This is the second new order that Lufthansa's freight subsidiary has placed this year. In March 2021, 777F number ten was ordered. Taking into account both orders, the fleet will be expanded to ten Boeing 777Fs. The four B777Fs that are operated by AeroLogic but fly almost exclusively for Lufthansa Cargo are a thorn in the side of employee representatives. The background is - as mentioned - the lack of applicability of the group collective agreement.
