Lufthansa assumes that the first Boeing 787-9 will be delivered in the summer of 2022. This will have the registration D-ABPA and will be named “Berlin”. The handover is to take place after approval by the US FAA.

Between 2022 and 2027, Germany's largest airline will receive a total of 32 machines of this type. A new cabin design will also be introduced with the introduction of this pattern. Among other things, the company explains that there will be direct aisle access for all passengers in business class.

The cabin is fitted out in Frankfurt am Main. The D-ABPA is initially to be used for training purposes on German domestic routes. In the course of the second half of 2022, the Dreamliner is to be put into active long-haul service. The first intercontinental destination of the “Berlin” will be Toronto.
