The hoteliers on the Balearic island of Mallorca are looking at the upcoming summer season 2021 with increasing concern. Vaccinations are only progressing very slowly in Spain because, as in the entire European Union, there is a lack of vaccine. You want to fix that at your own expense and buy the Russian Sputnik V.

According to the Mallorca Zeitung, the president of the hotelier association FEHM, Maria Frontera, is concerned that the companies will be able to vaccinate their staff by the beginning of the summer season. Alternatives are now being evaluated in order to be able to achieve the goal more quickly. The Russian vaccine Sputnik V was caught in the eye. This has not yet been approved in the European Union, but for example, it is also urgent Austria's Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz that this is purchased and used.

The hotel owners in Mallorca refer to Mexico, where negotiations are currently underway with the government with the aim of allowing hoteliers to procure and use vaccines themselves. Now the association on Mallorca is also demanding that the Russian vaccine Sputnik V - after approval in Europe - can also be purchased privately for the staff of tourist businesses. The regional government should put pressure on in Madrid.

Tourism would have to rely on the best possible summer season and could not financially manage a failure again. Frontera said: "We cannot allow ourselves to be vaccinated at the end of the summer". The hotel owners would contribute financially to the costs.
