In the Scandinavian media, among other things, Austrian Airlines boss Alexis von Hoensbroech is named as a possible successor to the outgoing SAS CEO Rickard Gustafson. He will leave his post this summer.

Other candidates who, according to local reports, should be on the shotlist for the SAS executive chair are: Alex Cruz and Anko van der Werff. The contract of the Austrian Airlines General Director was recently extended to 2026.

The carrier did not want to comment on whether Alexis von Hoensbroech actually wants to leave the Austrian Lufthansa subsidiary or not. The new group spokeswoman only wrote on request that “we generally do not take a position on speculation about personnel”. Before the corona pandemic, Lufthansa was said to have ambitions to take over the Scandinavian Star Alliance member.
