The ailing low-cost airline Norwegian Air Shuttle has to send further subsidiaries into bankruptcy. Affected are the branches in France and Italy, through which, among other things, pilots and flight attendants were employed.

Norwegian Air Resources Italy recently had 322 employees whose jobs are in acute danger. The continuation of the long-haul base Rome-Fiumicino is planned due to the withdrawal from the Long Haul. This leads to considerable criticism from the Italian trade unions.

286 jobs are affected at Norwegian Air Resources France. Here, too, there is criticism from the employee representatives, because no dismissal compensation is provided. Instead, bankruptcy is filed in both Italy and France. The Paris-Charles de Gaulle base will also be abandoned.

In the UK, the liquidator recently notified Norwegian Air UK's approximately 1.100 employees that insufficient funds are available for the payment of wages. The company will therefore be wound up and finally closed. The approach leads to considerable criticism from the trade unions.

Norwegian Air Resources is not headquartered in Norway, but in Ireland. Similar to the temporary employment agency Crewlink, which works for Ryanair, it has branches in various countries through which the staff is employed. The Irish temporary employment agency is to be liquidated, which is why further bankruptcies within the group are to be expected.
