Camping holidays experienced a real renaissance last year. The upward trend continued this year as well. Austrian tourism also benefits from this.

This June, compared to the same month last year, with around 216.000, almost 20 percent more arrivals were recorded at Austrian campsites. With an average length of stay of four days, this results in around 857.000 overnight stays - which corresponds to an increase of around 27 percent. This year, guests from abroad came much more frequently than in June 2020, which was even more restricted by travel - there were around 48 percent more arrivals here.

Carinthia and Tyrol proved to be the most popular federal states for campers (source: Statistics Austria). "The current statistics show that nature-oriented holidays with a lot of outdoor activities are popular this year and that more and more travelers are recognizing the advantages of this type of holiday," says Tomas Mehlmauer, President of the Austrian Camping Club (ÖCC).
