Gulf carrier Qatar Airways is thinking loudly about a possible expansion of the bulk order for the long-haul Boeing 777X model. This could also become necessary due to the ongoing dispute that one has with Airbus regarding alleged quality defects in the A350 in order to be able to implement the growth plans.

At the Farnborough Air Show, Qatar CEO Akba Al Baker said that they are currently considering ordering more Boeing 777X. The company currently has 60 units on order and is also the first customer for the freight version of this model.

The B777X program is well behind schedule. There have been some delays, so the US manufacturer currently expects that the first copy will not be able to be delivered to a customer until 2025. It's already a few years behind the original schedule. Lufthansa is also affected by this, because the German airline has also ordered this model.
