In a few days, Gulf carrier Qatar Airways will put the first Boeing 737-Max-8 into regular scheduled service. The medium-haul jet will initially be used from Doha to Abu Dhabi and Dammam. The machine bears the registration A7-BSC.

The Qatar-based carrier recently caused a surprise when first sighted tail surfaces in a Qatar Airways design on B737 Max-8s in a Boeing plant. At that time, however, no order from this airline appeared in Boeing's pipeline - at least as far as the Max-8 was concerned. The nine copies that were originally ordered by S7 Airlines and are no longer allowed to be delivered due to the sanctions were secured.

A few years ago, Qatar Airways had already leased three Boeing 737 Max 8s. These were leased to Air Italy dry, a holding at the time. So far, this pattern has not been used in-house. In the future, there should be significantly more copies, because the Gulf carrier has ordered 25 Boeing 737-Max-10 in connection with the dispute with Airbus, which has now been settled.
