The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair is currently trying to cash in on the corona vaccines that have now been approved. The carrier literally advertises summer vacations as “vaccinate and get started”. It is still not at all clear whether a corresponding entry in the vaccination card will make entry easier or not.
The Irish carrier does not, of course, point out the last-mentioned circumstance. The availability of vaccinations for the general population, for example in Austria, is currently defacto not available. Across Europe, there is no guarantee that all people willing to vaccinate will be able to receive the injection before their summer vacation in 2021.
Ryanair has repeatedly spoken out against testing before departure. Therefore, the current advertising campaign that advertises summer vacations with a syringe and a jar labeled “Vaccine” is a bit hypocritical. The advertised 15 percent and the waiver of rebooking fees cannot hide the fact that a possible tariff difference will apply anyway. The deadlines for the exemption from the exorbitant fee are also not exactly customer-friendly.
