The Ryanair Group rumbles again in Vienna against the competitor Austrian Airlines and now also wishes its sister company Eurowings "Goodbye". The two Lufthansa subsidiaries are accused of “cutting thousands of jobs” without naming further sources.

At the same time, the Irish lowcoster claims that "over 200 new, well-paid jobs for pilots, cabin crew and engineers here in Vienna" would be created in Vienna. The reason for this is said to be the stationing of five additional machines. So far, however, the Ryanair Group has not commented on whether these should be operated by Lauda Europe, Buzz, Malta Air or Ryanair DAC.

The Polish Buzz and the Maltese Lauda Europe currently have bases in Vienna. The Ryanair DAC was closed in the autumn of the previous year and replaced by one from Buzz. Lauda Europe uses the Airbus A320 for Ryanair. The Polish sister company flies with Boeing 737-800s that wear the client's colors.

Andreas Gruber, Ryanair, is quoted in the press release with the following words: “The announcement of the withdrawal of Eurowings from Vienna this week, one week after the AUA's decision to cancel more than 500 flights in December, shows that Vienna and the Austrian Tourism cannot rely on the heavily state-subsidized Lufthansa Group or its subsidiaries. Although the Lufthansa Group and its subsidiaries AUA and Eurowings have received around 600 million euros in state aid from hard-working Austrian taxpayers, they continue to cut routes and capacities, reduce traffic and cut jobs. While the state-subsidized Lufthansa cuts in Vienna, Ryanair continues to grow. We are offering our full flight schedule to / from Vienna in December so that Austrian citizens can return home over Christmas or travel to friends and family over the Christmas holidays. Ryanair will station five more aircraft in Vienna in spring 2022 and we are already hiring up to 200 new pilots, flight attendants and engineers who can look forward to well-paid, secure jobs in Vienna, while the Lufthansa Group airlines, including Austrian and Eurowings , Cut thousands of Austrian jobs. Austrian citizens who want to travel to / from Vienna this Christmas can book Ryanair flights with the certainty that they will not be canceled, even if Eurowings and Austrian repeatedly cancel flights in December and, in the case of Eurowings Vienna, give them up completely. During the Christmas season, Viennese citizens and visitors can book cheap winter holidays on Ryanair's extensive route network to / from Vienna in January, February and March at the lowest available fares, knowing that these flights will not be canceled while they are on the flight schedules of AUA, Eurowings or other Lufthansa subsidiaries cannot be trusted.
