The comeback of the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air at Salzburg Airport remains a veritable "never ending story", because the last route announced for the end of March 2022 has been postponed.

In the summer of 2020, Wizz Air surprised with the short-term recording of Salzburg into the route network. A number of destinations have been announced, including St. Petersburg and Kiev-Zhuliany. The flights to the two cities mentioned should have been served since September 2020. As quickly as Wizz Air came to the city of Mozart, you were gone again. The recording of the routes is pushed back at regular intervals. There is nothing left of the original routes, which have already been permanently deleted.

The destination Varna was supposed to be included in June of the previous year, but immediately before the first flight it was postponed by a whole year. In the meantime there are flights to the Black Sea completely abandoned and deleted from the reservation system.

The only destinations currently on sale from Salzburg are St. Petersburg and Kiev-Zhuliany. Both destinations have been postponed at regular intervals since September 2020. Most recently, the first flight date for the Russia flights was postponed to June 2022. Now it also hit Kiev-Zhuliany. The connection to the capital of Ukraine is now scheduled to start on July 4, 2022. Two rounds per week are planned. Given the history, it remains to be seen if the dates will hold or if Wizz Air will postpone again.
