On May 15, 2023, Vueling flight VY1332 en route from Alicante to Brussels had to make an unscheduled stopover in Barcelona. The background is that a crew member has become unfit for medical reasons.

With regard to the protection of the employee's privacy, the company did not provide any further information on which crew member it was. In any case, the cockpit crew has decided that a stopover will be made in Barcelona. There, the Vueling employee received appropriate medical care from the airport's local medical service.

It is no coincidence that the unscheduled landing was made at this airport. Vueling has a large base here. This made it possible for the absent crew member to be replaced by a standby colleague. The Airbus A320 with the registration EC-KDX landed safely in Barcelona and continued the flight to Brussels after the crew had been completed.

The failure of the crew member or the medical care he needed meant that EC-KDX was delayed. According to plan, the Airbus A320 should have landed in Brussels with flight number VY1332 at around 13:10 p.m. The plane actually arrived shortly after 15:30 p.m.
