Bolzano Airport's own brand, Skyalps, is aiming for a sales cooperation with Lufthansa. Passengers could then switch to long-distance destinations in Frankfurt am Main or vice versa in the direction of South Tyrol. In addition to Frankfurt, London is also to be included in the year-round route network.
The fleet currently operated by Luxwing on behalf of Skyalps is to be supplemented shortly by a fifth de Havilland Dash 8-400, Managing Director Josef Gostner told the daily Alto Adige. In the future, they want to operate the fleet themselves under their own AOC. We are currently in the approval process.
According to Gostner, negotiations are being held with Lufthansa about a sales partnership. "Our passengers can then book their long-distance destination directly on the Lufthansa website and the flight from Bolzano to Frankfurt is automatically included," says the Skyalps boss, who did not give a time frame for the implementation of the project.
This year they want to transport around 90.000 passengers to/from Bozen. There is currently high demand for both incoming and outgoing. Gostner believes travelers want to fly. For the year 2023, the Skyalps managing director expects at least 30 percent growth in passenger numbers.
