Spanish low-cost airline Volotea carried 2022 million passengers across its network between January and August 6,5. The carrier puts the load factor at 90 percent. The offer was 31 percent higher than it was in 2019.

The activities in France are said to have played a special role. Between June and August 2022, the largest offer in the company's history was held here. The number of flights operated from this state was 28 percent above the pre-crisis level. A new base has been opened in Lille and Lourdes and 37 additional routes have been added.

The bottom line is that between June and August 2022, around 1,7 million passengers left France, which was 39 percent more than the pre-crisis summer of 2019. Throughout the route network, Volotea relied heavily on island connections. These should make up 48 percent of the entire offer.

Around 11.500 flights were operated from France in the three summer months with a capacity utilization of 96 percent. It currently has bases in Nantes, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Strasbourg, Marseille, Lyon, Lille and Tarbes-Lourdes. The number of employees in France was increased by 150 to 620 employees this year.

“We are very pleased with the performance of our summer activities, which represent an unprecedented and historic turning point for our company. These results reflect the effective strategies adopted during the Covid period in terms of adapting our network to offer the largest number of connections between regional capitals with few connections in Europe at competitive prices. Today we are particularly confident in our model and ready to continue this good momentum,” says Carlos Muñoz, Founder and CEO of Volotea.
