In February 2022, Vienna-Schwechat Airport counted a total of 874.057 passengers. This is significantly higher than the traffic performance of the same month last year, but below the value that was before the corona pandemic.

With 2022 travelers in the group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) and 1.086.887 travelers at the Vienna location, the number of passengers in February 874.057 is almost six times higher than in February of the previous year (2021). Compared to the pre-crisis level, the passenger volume in the group is 48,3 percent and at the Vienna location 46,9 percent in February 2019.

Compared to February 2021, which was characterized by a low level of traffic due to the pandemic, the traffic figures at Vienna Airport increased significantly in February 2022: At the Vienna location, the number of local passengers rose to 725.221 passengers (+493,9 percent) and that of transfer passengers to 145.508 passengers ( +314,7 percent). Flight movements rose to 8.735 take-offs and landings (+211,3 percent), which is still only 50,6 percent of the pre-crisis level (February 2019). The volume of freight fell by 2021 percent compared to February 1,5 to 18.259 tons.

The number of passengers at Vienna Airport in February 2022 to Western Europe rose to 305.061 passengers (+513,0 percent compared to the previous year 2021). A total of 2022 passengers (+70.407 percent) traveled to Eastern Europe in February 394,3. The airport recorded 5.616 passengers (+365,3 percent) to North America and 13.006 (+253,7 percent) to Africa. In February 2022, Vienna International Airport recorded a total of 31.183 passengers (+427,6 percent) to the Near and Middle East and 7.226 passengers (+186,0 percent) to the Far East.

The Vienna Airport holdings are also increasing again from a low level: At Malta Airport, passenger numbers rose to 2022 travelers (+196.895 percent) in February 615,4, which is 54,8 percent of the pre-crisis level (February 2019). At Kosice Airport, the number of passengers rose to 15.935 travelers (+789,7 percent), which is 56,9 percent of the pre-crisis level.
