Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines has signed a lease agreement for six Boeing 737 Max 8s with CDB Aviation. These are intended for use under the cheap brand Anadolujet.

The machines come from an existing order from Lessor and are to be handed over to the Turkish aviation company in 2024 and 2025. "We are pleased to have signed these new leases with our valued customer Turkish Airlines to finance the next six 737 Max aircraft deliveries from our order book," said Jie Chen, Chief Executive Officer of CDB Aviation. “Turkish Airlines is at the forefront of airlines in implementing initiatives to modernize all phases of flight and ground operations with a focus on sustainability. These highly efficient aircraft will bring Turkish closer to meeting its ambitious sustainability goals by reducing the environmental footprint of its main and subsidiary airline operations.”

The machines, which are equipped with Leap 1B engines from CFM, are to be equipped with the seating specific to the Anadolujet brand. This increases the number of aircraft that CDB Aviation has leased to Turkish Airlines to nine. A B737-800, a B777-300ER and an Airbus A320neo have been placed with Turkey's largest airline.

“We are proud to work with partners like CDB Aviation in our pursuit of excellence. The addition of these aircraft to AnadoluJet's fleet will make a significant contribution to achieving our goals and will enable us to offer exceptional travel experiences to our passengers,” said Levent Konukcu, Turkish Airlines Chief Investment and Technology Officer.
