The cabin crew of the German holiday airline Condor will in future receive more money at the end of the month. The Verdi and Ufo unions, in cooperation with the staff representatives, have concluded a new collective agreement with the carrier.

Among other things, the agreement provides that flight attendants should be paid between 17 percent and 34 percent more wages. There should also be a tax-free inflation premium of 3.000 euros. This will be gradually transferred to the cabin staff by the end of 2024 at the latest. The number of salary levels has also been increased.

"With these salary increases and one-off payments, we were finally able to negotiate the long-overdue financial compensation for the massive additional workload for the cabin crew at Condor. At the same time, however, we also have to defend an important passage in the collective agreement that deals with controlling the workload of our colleagues," says Daniel Kassa Mbuambi, Chairman of UFO.

However, there is also criticism, because the employee representatives also state that Condor wants to “get rid of” an arbitration board that was agreed in 2020. From UFO's point of view, the management wanted to "pretty up" the carrier for investors through the 2020 crisis wage agreement. Bötte-Lüdemann, UFO board member and negotiator at Condor: “Unfortunately, our fears have come true: the arbitration board had to be called. A waiver would not be responsible to the colleagues. The attempt to link a long overdue pay adjustment with a massive cut in collectively agreed minimum standards for workload on board is indecent.
