UK bans all aircraft with 'Russia connection'

The UK prohibits aircraft owned by Russian individuals, companies or the state from using the airspace. Aircraft that are chartered or associated with a person or company in Russia are also banned.

All aircraft entered on the Russian register must also stay out of UK airspace. The UK is trying to ban anything that can fly and is in any way related to the Russian Federation. Of course, all airlines from this country are also affected.

The fact that the flight ban also applies to machines owned or chartered by Russians or operated by a person or company with a connection to Russia can also affect numerous Austrian charter airlines. It is an open secret that some providers are owned by Russians through straw men or have aircraft belonging to wealthy oligarchs on their AOC. This constellation could now become a serious problem for one or the other provider, because it is to be expected that the EU countries will soon follow suit with similar measures. The ban imposed by the UK comes into effect one minute after midnight on Friday.
