Icelandic airline Play will be serving Stewart International Airport in the New York metropolitan area. This is far less known than John F. Kennedy, Newark and La Guardia airports.
From June 9, 2022, Play plans to fly daily between Keflavik and Stewart Airport. This is located about 88 kilometers northeast of New York City, near the city of Newburgh. This airport is mainly used for domestic flights.
Play may have chosen Stewart International Airport primarily for cost reasons, as it is considered cheaper than John F. Kennedy, Newark and La Guardia. The connection to New York City is made, for example, via a train line and various bus transfer providers.
For the current year, Play plans to offer three destinations in the United States. These are Baltimore, Boston and new Stewart International. The routes are to be served from Keflavik with Airbus A321neo. Shuttles are offered from various airports in Europe.
