The austerity package negotiated at Austrian Airlines between the management and the works council on board is currently still pending because, according to research by the business magazine “Profil”, the Vida trade union will only approve once the possible state aid has been finalized. Since this is an amendment to the collective agreement, the consent of the social partners, i.e. the Chamber of Commerce and the trade union, is required.

According to Vida boss Roman Hebenstreit, the union insists that conclusive funding for the AUA must first be on the table before there are cuts in staff. The signature is still missing on the allegedly completed restructuring plan, as Hebenstreit explains to “Profil”: “A final agreement can therefore not be reached.” The ball is now with Finance Minister Gernot Blümel (ÖVP), as the trade unionist further explains to the news magazine : “He has to say how much the staff has to contribute to the overall package. It is clear that the employees alone will not save the AUA, especially since the proportion of personnel costs in the total costs is an estimated 15 percent ”.

The chairman of the AUA on-board works council, Rainer Stratberger, told the "Profil" that the austerity package negotiated with the management was already wrapped up. It would be "binding and will be implemented". The signing by the Vida union would only be a "formal legal matter."
